The following communication tools are employed to help the Eastern District fulfill it’s promise to support:
“Healthy leaders [congregations] vigorously equipping the people of God for Kingdom growth.”

Communication in the Eastern District continues to be a work in progress, being consistently challenged by the changing nature of digital communication. It is the hope and prayer of the Eastern District that through whatever means the future has in store, we provide our workers and congregations with resources and information that will enhance their ministry – to the glory of God!

THE EASTERN DISTRICT WEBSITE

This Eastern District website is a resource of information, people and links that are provided to enhance your ministry to the people you serve.  It has been designed for ease of navigation.  It is further complimented by the other communication vehicles of the Eastern District – Breaking New Ground and e-News.  There is always room for improvement and we are open to your thoughts, ideas and suggestions.

e-News

On the first and third Tuesday of the month, the “e-News” is distributed to readers throughout the District.  The e-News is sent to over 1,800 subscribers. This HTML formatted email contains messages from the Eastern District President, as well as time sensitive news and information from the Eastern District office and organizations and congregations of the Eastern District. The e-News has subscription links so that other members of your congregation can subscribe to receive their own copy on a twice monthly basis.

BREAKING NEW GROUND

“Breaking New Ground” is written by Pastor Chris Wicher, President of the Eastern District, Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. It is intended for members and friends of the Eastern District to read and to share.
“Breaking New Ground” is short for “Breaking New Ground for the Mission of Jesus Christ”, the vision for this District. This e-journal contains personal observations and thoughts gained while journeying in and around the Eastern District and beyond. It is this author’s desire to get you to read what he’s thinking and seeing and experiencing, all for the sake of the mission of Jesus Christ. It’s also written to get you to know the developments we’ve been blessed to experience here in the Eastern District, all for sharing the wonderful ministry and mission of the Lord of the Church in our part of the Lord’s vineyard.

“THOUGHT FOR A NEW DAY” DEVOTIONS

President Wicher writes a daily devotional that is sent via email (with the demands and travel requirements of the President’s office, “everyday” is often times reduced to “many” days).

If you are interested in being included on President Wicher’s mailing list, let him know by email.  He will, in turn, invite you through his YahooGroup.  When the invite comes your way, a simple click at the designated place on the screen on your part will make it happen.  To date, President Wicher has written over 3,100 daily devotions for this ThoughtForANewDay Group.

IN MEMORIAM

The Eastern District recognizes the importance that our extended district family holds in the lives of our professional workers. When an Eastern District rostered worker, spouse or child is called to glory, notification is sent out in as timely a fashion as possible to our entire Eastern District family.
