The LCMS
Foundation was created in 1958 by a dedicated group of Lutherans
who said that this new organization would "be a vehicle which
can, and under the blessing of God’s will, usher in a completely
new era for our church". It serves our Lord and our Church in
several ways. First, it provides trained men and women who assist
individuals to find ways to practice Biblically centered stewardship.
In today’s world, deciding what ministries to support and how
to bless our family through all God has given you can be a complicated
process. However, this work can be easily done through Gift
Planning Counselors and Resource
Development Directors whose mission is Linking Christians with Giving Opportunities.
Secondly, the LCMS Foundation serves
by managing financial instruments and the gifts they represent entrusted
to it by congregations, organizations and individuals. The staff of
the LCMS Foundation is ready to work with your congregation, or ministry’s
treasurer, or you personally to develop endowments and/or custodial
accounts.
In 1992, the Eastern District and
the LCMS Foundation formed a partnership that would "bring" the
Foundation to the congregations, missions, ministry and the people
of the District. This creative partnership brought to the District
a Gift Planning Counselor who would be on site in the District Office.
In 2002, the Eastern District further expanded its relationship with
the Foundation by adding a second Foundation representative who serves
as the District’s Resource Development Director.
