Professional Church Workers

Approximately 400 full and part-time teachers and administrators serve the elementary schools and early childhood centers of the Eastern District. The ministry of the Eastern District provides support, equipment, and a network for these very special workers that are called to serve the little ones of His kingdom.

  • New York State Education Department whose stated mission is to raise the knowledge, skill, and opportunity of all the people of the state of New York.

  • Pennsylvania Dept. of Education assists the General Assembly, the Governor, the Secretary of Education and Pennsylvania educators in providing for the maintenance and support of a thorough and efficient system of education. The Department of Education will develop and administer educational policies to improve the quality of education in Pennsylvania.

  • A Study of Youth Confirmation and First Communion in the LCMS this 20 page document produced by LCMS Department of Youth Ministry, details the results of a year-long effort in 1998 that explored the entire subject of how to build effective youth confirmation programs in LCMS congregations.

  • Search Institute was founded in 1958 as an applied social science research organization focused on the healthy development of young people. The institute originally focused on research regarding youth in religious settings; this mission has evolved to a broad focus on the healthy development of all children and youth in multiple settings in community and society. The Search Institute's mission is to provide leadership, knowledge, and resources to promote healthy children, youth, and communities.

  • "Catechism for Persons with Special Needs: Confirming Faith in Jesus" Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services the main focus of Bethesda's ministry is to share the love of Christ with children and adults who have developmental disabilities. Bethesda provides resources to educate friends, families, congregations and service providers about developmental disabilities. Bethesda supports the developmentally disabled either in their own homes or in Bethesda-owned facilities and helps them locate welcoming congregations in their community.

The Director of Christian Education ministers and Deaconess of the Eastern District each stand ready to advise and assist congregations as you study the possibility of adding additional professional staff to expand and enhance your current ministries.
